Slow Release Fertilizer for Coffee.(SRF)
COFFEE SPECIAL - Slow Release Fertilizer(SLF) contains major nutrients of NPK as16:12:16 and secondary nutrients Ca Mg S as 1:1:3 and other micronutrients like Zn, Bo, Mn, Cu, Mo Cl ,Fe in a very balanced manner. These nutrients are not soluble in water. When the SLF is applied to the root zone of plant it starts degrading in the soil depending on the four factors namely soil moisture, soil temperature, microbial activity and plants nutrient requirement. The releasing period continues upto
3-4 months. SRF releases the nutrients at the specific [warm] soil temperature. The benefit of this is that the plant roots and soil microbes are generally most active in warm soil; therefore SRF helps make nutrients available to the plants when they actually need them most. As the plant roots become more active, more nutrients are automatically released. Just 250kgs/acre/year is highly effective on coffee .
The major advantages of SRF are that the essential nutrients are made available to the plant gradually over a stretched period of time .This means that the Farmer/Planter can fertilize his crop less often and the nutrients are provided slowly and steadily at a very controlled rate at regular intervals to the plants. This is how most plants prefer to be fed and this helps them to grow well .
Usually most of the farmers are unable to provide proper nutrition to coffee plants at blossom since it coincides immediately after coffee harvest to coffee blossom during the months of Feb/March. Farmers are also quite very busy with harvest operations/pulpuring and sprinkler irrigation that they do not even think of nutrition to the new blossoms.
It is at this juncture that SRF plays a vital role due to its controlled release of nutrition during blossom, stretched over a span of 3-4 months when applied earlier in Sept/oct.
With conventional fertilizers one might have a great result but its only for a short period of time ,
whereas SRF is more sustainable and natural.
In today’s scenario of expensive sky rocketing fertilizer costs burdening the farmers , SRF is definitely value for money…because not a single ounce of manure ever goes waste…every single rupee of the farmers hard spent money for fertilizer is uniformly absorbed by the COFFEE plant to show the best of effective results right from fruit setting to harvest...
